A Small Bandaid For The Energy Crisis

Offshore drilling is already present in the Gulf of Mexico but now because of this energy crisis and the high cost of oil, the big debate is rather or not to open up off shore drilling in the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. This is absolutely ridiculous and only old dinosaur politicians whose pockets are lined with money from the oil industry could even spew this nonsense as a solution to the energy crisis. Drilling for more oil and setting up these platforms will only destroy the beauty of the environment and cause damage.

Research also says that the soonest offshore drilling locations can be leased is in 2012 and the affect on oil and natural gas prices wouldn’t be affected till about 2030. This contradicts McCain’s vote getting lies that his energy policy which includes opening up offshore drilling will save all Americans who are suffering because of a government that failed to think ahead and supported a rich oil industry. Offshore drilling is just a small bandaid and by the time it truly helps alleviate the oil issue, other situations like China and India importing more oil would make offshore drilling minimal as a changing point. If the politicians think that offshore drilling is an actual solution to an energy crisis that is only going to get exponentially worse than they should all be exiled to a small island that will be eventually flooded due to Global Warming.

What needs to be done is to come up with solutions that can be applied in the future to get away from the need of fossil fuels. How about we invest in electric cars, more laws to minimize waste, or something that will have a real effect instead of just adding more to the supply. There is no current renewable energy source now that can replace fossil fuels but that doesn’t mean that once prices rise we just go try to find more and more no matter what the cost. If we followed McCain’s and the old political ideas the next step would be to go to war for drilling rights in the North Pole and Antarctica.

The final thoughts on offshore drilling: RIDICULOUS, ANCIENT THINKING, GET REAL.
