Russia Versus The West and EU

by Sam Harton

A New Fight Over Energy, Borders, and Power

Russia under the lead of Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev have used a new weapon against the world in its personal wart o become a major powerhouse once again. This new weapon is the country’s vast amount of energy sources, mainly fossil fuels, which it supplies to the European Union and Asian countries as well. This control and supply of energy resources has give the country the power at this moment to take whatever methods it deems necessary to get Russia back into the power it once was.

The EU on the other hand is pretty much under the hammer of Russia because the union depends on Russia for 1/3 of its natural gas and oil. The EU is still weak with so many smaller countries dependent on Russia energy supply and facing Russian sanctions on energy supplies to any sanctions the country deems an attack from the EU. The end result is Russia has a dominant chess piece like the Queen which can move just about where it wants and destroy whatever it once including other countries’ territories for its own advantage. Who knows what Russia’s next step in this world chess game will be? It could be supporting more rebels and breaking apart more countries in order to make itself feel secure.

All the EU can do right now is shout curses until it can be independent of Russian energy supplies and is more likely to concede to Putin and Medvedev much like it conceded to Hitler until the breaking point. With the US without a strong leader on the global game, Russia has taken a great opportunity to make it’s move. As knowledge suggests, all it takes is a few leaders to change the order of the world and Russia’s Putin and Medvedev are pushing forward in a new age with new weapons under their control. McCain has made a mockery of the US with his VP candidate Sarah Palin and Barama is still unproven. This move by the Russians has changed the game and the world will be changed with it. Instead of countries working together it has even more become a battle over power, energy, and control.
