Recycling and Sorting Trash

The Art of Recycling

With the increase in the population around the world, the level of trash being burned and filling landfills greatly rises as well. The problem with this is that not enough people recycle and items like paper are being burned, plastics are being flooded into the environment, and glass bottles are filling up landfills. This results in more plastic being produced that does not bio-degrade, more trees being cut down, and more resources being used for metals and glasses. This is where recycling can really make a difference as it requires less resources to be used and allows re-use. Most people do not realize the true importance of recycling and just readily throw their trash away.

Recycling can be done by those that collect plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and glasses and take these items to facilities that recycle them for re-use. This takes more work but is the most effective method with only a minimal time from consumers and even pays a little as well. Besides going to the recycling facility, there are often recycling bins located at grocery stores and other buildings where users can toss their glass products, newspapers, and other recyclables. Even for consumers who don't have this time, learning to sort trash will definitely help. Consumers need to sort trash into proper recyclables which then help trash sorters quickly order items. Not enough focus has been brought into this issue and the majority of the public everywhere still does not sort trash properly. Japan is one of the few exceptions that require its residents to sort trash into many categories but other countries are very lacking. Sorting trash into the different categories like glass, paper, plastics, and batteries will all help make it easier and is friendlier to the environment. All it takes is a few seconds to just consider the trash and throw away and if enough people did this it would make a huge difference to the environment.
