Cockfighting Illegal in Louisiana

Pitting animals against one another is just cruel and the genius running the Louisiana government have finally realized this with their legislative vote on making cockfighting illegal in the state in 2007 and becoming effective in August of 2008. It is a shame that such buffoons are running the government down there and that these people might be in the federal government one day. It wouldn't be hard to imagine some of those involved in the Louisiana government actually attending cockfights themselves or have friends or family who have. Although it was a good sign that the vote was 101-1 in the House vote for the ban. That one person needs to resign and just leave politics and go back to his rooster farm. Rolfe McCollister Wrote a good article on Louisiana and mentioned how a local attorney in the state wrote a letter defending cockfighting, which just makes it scare how people think in the state. It is funny to imagine that people like this still exist and if no change ever happens these people will teach their kids the same values and the world just won't have a chance.

Cockfighting is already a felony in 33 states and it should be a felony in all states along with any fighting of animals. People only pit animals together for one reason and that is profit either through gambling or some other manner. People who are ignorant to the manner like those quoted in the Michael Vick dog fighting case that say quotes like "What is the big deal, it is only dogs", need to be pitted in the same manner in a cage to fight another person to the death.

Cockfighting is not going to end anytime soon in Louisiana or the world but passing a law to make it illegal and actually cracking down on these events will pressure people to stop doing it. That is why the felony charge on those participating and criminal charges to those present at the cockfights will definitely prevent these horrible events. Well, the good news is Louisiana has finally joined the rest of the states in making cockfighting illegal.
